Fine DefaultersOverdue fine information available from the Ministry of JusticeFrom 28 November 2011 the Ministry of Justice will make overdue fine information available via credit reports. This may allow credit providers to make better informed decisions about a customer’s potential credit risk. From this date the Ministry may also become first in the queue for any proceeds/revenue gathered if it seizes and sells secured property, which will be used to pay for overdue fines and reparation. This is known as Super Priority. Credit providers can protect themselves fully against this by not lending to customers who have overdue fines and reparation.
